Dorinda "Babe" Voss Palmer of Ruthven, Iowa, passed away September 8, 2009, at Mercy Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa, due to complications following repair of an abdominal aneurysm. Babe was born on March 13, 1933, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, the 5th of 6 children to Arthur and Jean (Platt) Voss. She was raised in Ruthven and graduated from Ruthven High School. Dorinda eventually moved to Minnesota where she raised her daughters and resided for over 50 years. She married Jerry Palmer in Brainerd, MN, where they made their home and she worked for Super America (SA) for many years. She enjoyed woodworking, reading, and spending time with her family. After retiring, she returned to Ruthven, which she always considered home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, her parents, her brother Arthur Jr (Sam), and 2 sisters Linda and Gwendolyn. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Jean Dixon of Kenai, Alaska, and Jane Clay (Harold Smith); granddaughter, Christene Clay (Scott Varisto), great-granddaughters - Emma Jane, Lily, and Gracie Varisto; her brother Eric (JoAnn) Voss of Ruthven, Iowa; sister Mary Ellen Forey of Columbus, NE, many nieces, nephews, friends, and family. At her request there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to your local blood bank, or to a favorite charity. |
