Maintaining a healthy skin should be a priority to every person. However, many people do not understand the importance of doing this. The skin, which is the largest organ in the body, has a lot of functions. Ranging from protection, secretion, excretion and blood storage, ensuring that the skin is healthy to undertake its functions effectively should not be an option. Certainly, you would not stand or maintain your esteem with an unsightly skin. Skin care experts can advise you on many ways to maintain the health status of your skin.
To begin, the skin is made up of multiple, actually up to three layers. They include the subcutaneous layer, the dermis, and the epidermis in that order from the deeper layer to the superficial. The external layer, the epidermis, is greatly affected. This is due to its open exposure to external damaging conditions. So to say, exposure to the sun, cold environments, and other elements may not be friendly to the skin. Finding the best treatment strategy for the epidermis to include in your skin care routine is therefore of immense importance.
There are many ways to maintain the epidermal integrity. Skin care experts will advise you accordingly. However, there is a common practice that should be included in all the skin care routines. This is exfoliation; the process of eliminating or removing dead skin from the epidermis. In brief, dead skin cells resurface as new cells develop under them. With time, the new cells also die as others replace them. This is usually a continuous process facilitated by the normal removal of the dead cells from the body.
However, with aging, the normal removal rate of dead skin cells decline. This necessitates exfoliation. Especially in the face where there is rapid cell turnover, exfoliation is indeed important. Undertaking exfoliation intensively may expose your new cells to unfavorable conditions. This is why you should use agents that will stimulate rapid cells turnover after exfoliation. However, many people feel challenged in deciding what to use to exfoliate skin. The answer is, there are many options for achieving skin exfoliation. These include the use of chemicals products and natural home remedies. To many people, natural remedies are the best option. Besides, they have a proven working functionality. Some of the natural exfoliation procedures include the following:
1. Dry Brushing
This is certainly the simplest and affordable natural exfoliation procedure. With this method, you require no exfoliating creams, scrubs or other sophisticated substances to exfoliate the skin. All you need is a good, natural and bristle brush for the whole process. Armed with the brush, begin the exfoliation process from the feet, way upwards to your face. This procedure can take up to four or five minutes, and you will have a whole new skin. After this, ensure that you cleanse the skin and moisturize effectively.
2. Citrus Fruits
This is the second option when it comes to what to use to exfoliate skin. This ‘superfruit’ contains alpha hydroxyl acids with natural exfoliating properties. Creating this regimen is quite simple. All you need is to mix some citrus fruit juice with milk or yogurt. The result is a powerful blend that achieves exfoliation even without scrubbing. This option is additionally beneficial for those with dark spots as it lightens the spots.
3. Baking Soda
This is probably the most common product in the kitchen. You can be surprised that baking soda has some more additional benefits other than baking. Besides being a deodorizer, and a dry shampoo, it can also be used for skin lightening. To make the exfoliating cream, mix a substantial amount of baking soda with honey. The resultant mixture is an effective exfoliant with antimicrobial properties as well.
Many people know milk as an important source of proteins in the body. However, the importance of milk goes beyond this. The presence of lactic acid in the milk makes it a suitable skin exfoliator. The lactic acid acts as a chemical exfoliator that eliminates dead skin without rubbing or intensive scrubbing. To increase its effectiveness, you can add some egg whites to the milk. The other option is adding a few cups of milk to your bath. This will provide better exfoliation results.
Also a common kitchen ingredient, sugar provides undoubted exfoliation results. To make the scrub, add oil to sugar. You can use olive oil, coconut oil or jojoba oil for this procedure. You should then rub the mixture gently in a circular motion.
Exfoliation is the mainstay skin care routine for removing dead skins. However, it is usually daunting when it comes to picking the best exfoliator to use. Worry not because there are multiple exfoliating agents available at home. Besides the five mentioned above, others include salt, apples, coffee, oatmeal and using a dry towel. With the above-mentioned procedures, you should absolutely stay beautiful.
Makeup is an essential part of each woman morning routine. Today even men have joined in and started using it to smooth out their skin and take care of it. The question being floated around is why apply it? Many would say it is because we are taking care of the skin, confidence and others to look and feel better but is this really the case. Many women spend hours applying and take up their whole morning still partaking in the same process. What if you take that single step and say that today, “I won’t wear any cosmetics on my skin except a moisturizer?” What do you think would be the results? Well to answer some of these questions, here are some of the outcomes that may come as a result of ending the morning routine.
1. Natural is far better
In many cases, we don’t know what we get ourselves into when using some of these facial and skin products. The fact is we introduce chemicals to our skin, which can result in adverse effects. Skin irritations and the appearance of acne
, which is a skin condition that can be adverse in some cases, are just some of the effects of wearing the cosmetics day in day out. The skin just like many other organs in the body requires to be given its own space, to breath and react with the natural atmosphere. This functionality is limited by applying harsh chemicals that are contained in some of the makeup
2. Confidence and self esteem
People spend adequate time in the bathroom during the morning routine as a way to escape reality. This is because they assume that applying all those chemicals or ingredients on their skin makes them more beautiful, gives them more confidence and boosts their self-esteem. However, this is not the case; by being yourself and letting go, not minding what others say and being proud of your flaws is what gives you confidence and boosts your self esteem. It might be difficult and challenging to accept it at first, but the more you experience the freedom associated, the more you like the change.
Time is an important aspect of a person’s life. Every minute lost means that there is something wrong somewhere. Saving it and maximumly utilizing it is one of the best opportunities that set people apart. As an individual, the amount of time taken to complete the beauty process means that a lot of time is lost. Imagine that person who has no worry in regards to how they look, except carrying a moisturizer that prevents their skin from drying, they don’t carry anything or do anything else that waste their time like a beauty routine. That time is spent doing and taking care of pertinent issues and matters in their lives.
4. Appreciating personal flaws
Each day, we are advised to appreciate whom we are inside and out. This is because without our personal flaws, we wouldn’t be who we are. The same applies to the beauty routine every morning. Hiding our personal flaws makes us dependent on certain things. Their absence makes us feel naked and this is not healthy and it is also not practical. By stopping the processes and loving your flaws, in some instances you can flaunt them and let others see that you are proud of being who you are. With time, the flaws become part of you, you get used to them and no one can insult you or downplay your mood at any given time.
5. Excess credit given to makeup
Once your interests and cares are diverted from the beauty routines, you will come to realize the importance that other people regard it with. However, the obsession is only among women since men tend to run from women with excessively applied cosmetics. Till date, research has shown that men like our natural status, whether it is in regards to our facial routines and even hair routines. It is therefore essential to know that beauty is held and is associated with nature and being natural as a person. Letting go of the beauty routine, you appreciate more of what you have and learn to better take care of it.
Each day, our self-conscious tells us what to do in regards to different matters. In the beginning, the same subconscious will tell you not to let go, show the difficulty and you may lose confidence. Taking the first step is the difficult part but once you let go, you won’t have to wonder any more. The skin can take care of itself and that natural process is what we are advocating.
The cause of having cellulite cannot be pointed to a singular factor alone. It is a combination of multiple variables such as genetics, hormones, connective tissue structure, and some more others. This means that you shouldn’t blame your parents for it!
A few exercise routines can help you manage, reverse, and avoid having them. The following exercises can help you maintain tight skin and improve blood circulation effectively correcting cellulites!
1.) Plie Squat
Simply stand with your legs more than shoulder width apart. Point your toes outward (pointing opposite to each other if you have some flexibility). Place your hands on your thigh for support and gradually lower your hips to the level of your knees. Do three to five sets of 12 repetitions at least three times a week for great results.
2.) Reverse Lunge
This is just the opposite of a normal lunge, but it can be a little tricky. Stand straight with your feet shoulder-width apart. Lift one leg and step as far back as possible while lowering yourself until the other thigh is parallel to the ground.
You can make it more challenging by trying to touch your knees to the ground. If you are already used to this, you can hold a few pounds of dumbbell while doing a reverse lunge.
3.) Alternating Abduction Squat
Place your feet shoulder width apart while standing upright. Raise your hands just right above your shoulders (like a boxing stance) for balance. Lower your hips until your thighs are parallel to the ground (go lower for more challenge).
Raise your body while bearing weight on your heels. While doing this, lift one leg laterally as high as you can with your knees straight. Do this with the other leg and complete about 12-15 repetitions. Do this up to five sets.
4.) Side Lunge
Stand up straight with your feet at shoulder width’s distance. Lunge to your side as far as you can while maintaining a firm back. Lower yourself towards the end of the lunge while lifting your hands above the shoulders to maintain balance.
Bear weight on your other leg while going back to the standing position. Do up to 15 repetitions and the same with the other leg. Finish this routine up to five sets. When you get the hang of it and you are confident with your balance, you can add a few weights while doing it.
5.) Pistol Squat
This is quite a difficult routine, especially for beginners but it can give you an answer to how to get rid of cellulites. You grab something to hold on to while doing this as you get accustomed to it. Grab a chair or hold on to your coach.
Place your feet shoulder width apart. Lift one leg in your front and gently lower yourself until you reach a sitting position (go lower if you dare to challenge yourself) while bearing your weight on your heels. Lift your hands above your shoulders for balance (or grab on to something). Using your heels, return to a standing position. Do as many as you can and repeat with the other leg.
6.) Hip Bridge
Lie on the floor with your knees bent and horizontally aligned with the balls of your feet. Place your arms on your side with palms facing the floor. You will be using your hands as your base and support. In one explosive motion, raise your hips as if you are going to hit the ceiling! Hold at the top for about three seconds before lowering yourself back to the round. Repeat 12-15 times for 3-5 sets.
7.) Boot Strappers
Never attempt this if you are not confident with the flexibility of your hamstrings. But if you really want to know how to get rid of cellulite, you should start exercising!
Start with a stance wider than your shoulder. Lower yourself to a squat and make contact with your elbows and knees. From this position, while maintaining contact with your knees and elbows, straighten your leg as if you are strapping your boots then go back to the lowered squat position. Lift your torso up while bearing weight on your heels. If this is too easy for you, hold a kettle bell while performing this. Do 8-12 repetitions for 3-5 sets.
It can be a little difficult to begin an active lifestyle. But with discipline, you can rid yourself of cellulite and lead a healthier lifestyle.
