I like to thaw unfrosted cakes in the oven. Not only is it faster, but the cake will taste almost as though it was freshly made. Cake can also be thawed at room temperature or overnight in the refrigerator. No matter how the cake is thawed, I recommend reheating it briefly to freshed it. To defrost in the oven, remove cake from plastic bag, release the freezer tape, and pull the folded ends of the foil from under the cakes, but don't unwrap the cake completely. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place the foil-wrapped cake on the oven shelf. It will take approx. 20-30 minutes to thaw, depending on the thickness of the cake. To test, press the foil to see if the cake feels soft or by inserting toothpice into the cake. Tear open the foil and bake the cake for 5 minutes to freshen it (warm but not hot).
