The end of October already! We've been extremely busy since the school year started in early September.
Jada is doing fantastic! She loves learning and is thriving in the first grade! She loves getting on the school bus with all the kids in our development every morning. Her school bus ride is only about a mile and half though which makes it very convenient should she miss the bus (hasn't happened YET). In her class they have a target to read 100 books within 6 months. Jada has read 71 of them in the past 2 weeks! She is just eating up the knowledge that she is getting. Her teachers are giving her extra homework in addition to what the rest of the class is getting so we'll see what they have to say on November 2nd for Parent-Teacher meetings.
Julia is now in the preschool room in the Merck Child Learning Center. She loves her new room (The Strawberry Patch). She was also ready for a change and to learn some new things. Today she had her Halloween Parade. She is going to be a pumpkin this year. Jada is going to be Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz.
I am doing well. I volunteer at the church and teach CCD classes to 6th graders every Monday evening at Delaware Valley High School. I really enjoy it and I'm learning a lot more about my faith! Work is extremely busy since we are in the final stages of merging with Schering-Plough (Merck acquired them). I am also in the final stages of getting my Six Sigma green belt certification at work. That is very time consuming and has a lot of statistics and data analysis involved. I am due to present to the Sigma board on December 3rd on my project to become certified. After that I plan to go after my PHR (Professional Human Resource) certification in May. It normally costs about $500, but if you just earned a Bachelors or Masters degree in the past year then you can take the national exam for only $120, so I am going for it! I've been down with some chest cold/flu and have fallen out of my running schedule so I will not be running the Philadelphia Half Marathon in November as planned.
Cary now works two days a week from home which is nice. He just moved positions at Merck to the Managed Print Program (formerly in Disaster Recovery). We are, ironically, still in the same organization rolling up to the same Vice President that I work for.! We are fixing the house up little by little. We just traded our SUV in for a minivan. We got a 2010 Toyota Sienna and, as luck would have it, I ended up busting the mirror off of it the first week we had it while backing into the garage! Cary is ready to rip my head off!
We are looking forward to the holidays and spending time with family and friends!
