I was wanting to get some advice from everyone on a little vacation. I was planning on going up to Buffalo to se Jason and Justin, but I forgot that I have to dish out some money for Chris' trip to Chicago at the end of May. I also forgot that Theresa won't have a lot of days to spend up there. She could probably get at the most eight straight days off from work - half of that would be driving. It takes us 24 hours of road time to get up there and 24 back.
Anywho, Robin even showed some interest in meeting up with us. Lets get some comments from everyone wanting to make this a go. Kristie and Lee showed some interest, Robin, Justin and Kelly, and Theresa and me. I would love to see Uncle J and Jason too, but with work and the new baby it might be hard to ...
Just some things to comment on -- when would be the best time for something like this (June/July), how many want to even do this, any ideas where we could meet. I am thinking Tennessee, but let's hear from everyone. Thanks ... ~ rjk
Tennessee is beautiful and I think it is an awesome place to meet up. It also makes everyone drive only half way. My Aunt Donna said something about cabins that you can rent that are actually on the water and provides everything that a regular cabin offers...it's just on the water. I figure that if this is an option everyone is thinking about, I could look this place up and get more details. Anyhow, i graduate June 6 so the beginning of June is off limits for me. I also have a summer orientation for NKU that lasts two days but I am unaware of the dates at the current time. As soon as I know, I will post it but other than that I have no other plans for this summer. Working at Friday's gives me a flexible schedule so I would be able to get off of work very easily. So... that's my input ...oh and I'm totally excited about it!!! YEAH
I didn't know the Smokey mountains were in Tennessee, but, that just means there's alot I don't know about. Are they? Hey I just think that Rabi has it right. It's very difficult to coordinate schedules in a very proggresive, and, dedicated family. I would love to get together with all of the Kilonsky family. It seems almost impossible, because we are all over the place. We need a master organizer to do something like this. Good to hear from you Rabi. How's your mom doing? Rock and Roll, Uncle JPK
She is doing wonderfully. I hope to persuade her into coming with me when we meet up this summer. Along with Danny-Bill of course and Dad if he wants to come to.
Congratulations on your pending graduation, and, good luck at NKU. I think the state of Kentucky will be well served by your being there. Rock and Roll, uncle JPK
Christian was selected to go to Chicago last year and has been raising money through fundraisers to offset the cost. The trip started at (I think) $1300, and he has raised over $800. He still has a few more days, and then I will pay the balance. This is just something the middle school does for a group of about 40 students. It gives them the opportunity to go and see museums and historical places. Last year, the school went to Washington D.C. (I want to know who gets the final word in choosing the destination - I want that job.)
As for Alaska, Theresa brother got stationed up there. He has three little girls. We call them "Charlie's Angels." They are quite special to us. We won't get to see them for quite some time, so I thought in the next couple of years flying up to Kodiak. I hear it is a beautiful place to visit. I almost decided to drive up to Washington with them. They are taking the ferry from Washington up to Alaska, but it is very expensive, but I changed my mind at the very end.
Enough about me ... How's Aunt Nancy and you? I still haven't got a response from Uncle Bernie. I sent him the address and a password, but he never responded. I am wondering if he is on the mainland. I didn't know until just recently that he speaks at conventions, so he is quite the busy body as well.
Let's not shoot for a family reunion. I was thinking of visiting the Buffalo Kilonsky's this summer. Theresa has me keeping my promise of a cruise to Hawaii, so I think my summer vacations will be booked for quite sometime between Hawaii and Alaska. I thought this would be a good summer to see ya'll.
What if we - just you and your boys meet in TN. If we planned it for like July or something??? We have a lot of weeks to choose from. I have a friend of mine that owns a share of a cabin with his friend. He could get me a really fair price, so it won't be so expensive. We would have a great time, and we would love to see all of you and all of those beautiful grandkids.
Let's at least throw it around for a couple of days and see where the discussion leads us.
I love the idea of camping. June 4 we are going to Pittsburgh for a Pirates game, and July is when Nancy's sister comes in from Japan for a month. Justin has a week off in July, but I don't know what he wants to do. He is not answering with a real answer. It is also hard because of our cats and dogs. Let me know as more develops. Kelly
Lee and I are open to anything. The kids have space camp here at Stennis (Taylor has it June 11-15 and andrew has it July 9-13) so anytime other than that works for us. Let me know when and I can look up cabins and stuff also.
I just looked up the Great Smokey Mountains National Park, and I must say, if I go to such a magnificent place, Nancy and I would have to spend at least a month. It's not possible to enjoy such an amazing place without doing it fully. Hey Bob, I figure that if Bern didn't get back to you it must be that he is heavily involved in the project he is doing. He is involved in trying to implement an early warning system for Tsunamies in Asia. Love youall, John and the bunch
Hey Uncle J, even if Kelly and Justin can't squeeze it in because of the Pirate game and Jason and Jen can't because of the baby, we would still love to see you. Only, of course, if you're able yourself.
That sounds awesome Kelly. Next question, would be June or July??? With Aunt Nancy's sister coming in July, is June a better month for ya'll? Maybe like June 21 - 24.? (Thurs. - Sun.) That would work well with Kristie and Lee. It would also work good the latter part of June for us. The following week would be June 28 - July 1st which also wouldn't be a bad time either.
Looks like we are getting a picture coming together ... Lets keep throwing stuff at each other and maybe something might work out.
That will be right around the time when the Redwings will have won the Stanley Cup. I don't know. Both of you might have lingering effects of "playoff blues" after the Sabres lose to the Wings in 6. Will have to see.
Those two weekends work well for us. You know the dates we can't come. Any weekend is good for Robin. If we are gonna throw stuff at each other, I pick the toaster to be thrown at you (Bob). LOL Kidding....
so you want to throw things, huh? See if you ever get your kids back. You keep it up, and I'll kiss her all over and feed her chocolate. hahahaha. (evil laugh)
