September 2009 Newsletter

Previous Next [Print]
It is September and things seem to be on their usual pattern:  some good, some not-so-good.
.
Val is out of the hospital and out visiting friends between resting up.  His report of the Labor Day Weekend activities:  "Went to moms and watched vern cut down a tree. It fell on their porch. Mary, Sierra I wenet to see Steve and his brothers and family. We also visited al and kathy. Took a few walks to my chair in the yard. Meanwhile I slept alot. LOL. Val"
.
Yes, a tree was cut  down, and it fell on Grandma Darlene's porch area.  Photo can be seen at www.olsonorigins.com ("Family Photos" tab).  Darlene Olson reports minimal damage.  The porch's roof seems to be OK, though the gate's latch isn't working too well.  Vern plans to repair damage soon.  The tree has been cleared, and parts of the trunk are being used in the driveway to help cars understand where they are supposed to be stopping.
.
Wayne Walberg now has a new job:  driving bus for Palmer Bus Service out of Little Falls.  School starts next week!
.
Tom Murray spent the weekend with his brother and sisters visiting, after which he power washed the deck in aniticipation of his fiance, Lora, applying a seal by hand, with a paintbrush.  Lots of work for her!  It is hoped that Tom appreciates the effort.
.
Lora celebrated a birthday on Saturday!  It will be on the calendar next year!
.
Josie has new photos added to the photo gallery at www.olsonorigins.com.  Check them out!
.
Bill Agens is reporting on his and Randi's anniversary (today, September 7) that Pine River now has a new Teen Center Director!  Bill accepted the job and is looking forward to this new, part-time adventure.
.
Bill also reports that Eric is being tested for concerns with a probable hole in his heart.  The hole's existence is in the process of being confirmed through a variety o f tests.  If confirmed, the condition will be monitored;  no surgery is anticipated at this point.
.
Darcy had reported that her intent was to go camping near Mankato.  She has yet to report any new adventures that happened over her Labor Day Weekend.
.
The PacMan Challenge is still on until September 15th!  Log in to www.olsonorigins.com (must register with your email and password for your score to appear) and find the Pacman game at the "Games" tab. Can you get high score?
.
Please forward your family's September activities to admin@olsonorigins.com, and the October newsletter will let everyone know what's happening!

1 Can Cherry Pie Filling
1 Can (Lg--15 oz?) Crushed Pineapple, Drained
8 oz. Sweetened Condensed Milk
8 oz. whipped topping
1/3 cup pecans or walnuts, chopped
1/3 cup pecans or walnuts, chopped

fold together the cherry pie filling, crushed pineapple, condensed milk, whipped topping and 1/3 cup pecans or walnuts until well mixed.  Sprinkle the other 1/3 cup pecans or walnuts on top.  Chill overnight (or several hours).  Stir slightly (just so the nuts on top "marble" into the mixture) and serve.
