It is October, and the weather is crisp. Today, October 10, snow was on the ground when we woke up in Buffalo, MN. It won't last, and it can probably be used as a hint that winter is coming!

There will also be a dinner in honor of Val Olson on October 30 at 5:00 at the Randall VFW. The event will provide an opportunity to visit with Val, to assist with financial obligations in the wake of his recent stroke, and to gather new and old friends together to create new memories! Val recently experienced a stroke, needed to be airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center, treated for stroke and then released as he continues the various therapies needed to promote his recovery. Now at home, he's cooking and cleaning as he works on his recovery. A truck driver, the earliest Val may hope to get a review of his driving privileges will be October 20. Always an active member of the community, Val has been active in church activities, youth activities and the local first response team. Now, let's all get together, visit with Val and provide him with financial and personal support at this event on October 30th in Randall!

Darcy Young reports she is planning on attending, and Amy Eich will try to get there after reviewing her work schedule. In October, Darcy will be a busy lady! She reports she will be working, driving cab and sleeping! She'll be teaching a sewing class on Wednesday evenings, and Shailyn will be going to school as Vanessa goes to daycare. In Darcy's words, "Life is uncertain at best right now." It's certain, though, that she'll be visiting Diana and Heidi for their birthdays this month! Watch for photos from this summer that Darcy will be attempting to post soon!

If anyone is interested in adopting a young cat (6 months?), let Vicky know at vickykae@hotmail.com. It's a stray female cat, not spayed, and extremely friendly! Mostly white, it is mostly calico. She likes lots of attention!. Her current, temporary home cannot afford to keep her, and she is not an outdoor cat. Please feel free to volunteer a home!
