Please pray for Chandler Odom and think good thoughts of encouragement and hope! He has swine flu and pneumonia. He’s been out of school for a week. He was diagnosed with the swine flu last Monday, and pneumonia on Tuesday. Friday we went in and there was little improvement. The Dr. was undecided if he should go in the hospital at that time. She told us to call her at home over the weekend if anything changes. If we’re not in the hospital on Monday, he goes back in for xrays on Monday, and she’s going to reevaluate if he’s going to the hospital or not.

FUNDRAISER FOR VAL
As often mentioned, there will be a fundraising dinner for Val next Friday at the Randall VFW, starting at 5:00 pm. For this event, a suggestion has been made that the Olson Family (including quasi-family, or those people who may consider themselves part of the Olson family in any manner) put together a basket of items that may be used in the silent auction. The items will be gathered just prior to the event (maybe even as the family members arrive), and then the basket will be auctioned with the other donations. The actual suggestion from Sherry reads:

Here’s my idea…How about all the ‘Olson’s’ (I use that term loosely. Actually, it’s anyone who considers themselves related to Val.) bring a small item donation. This could be a gift card, DVD, book, maybe mom’s recipe book, anything… All this is placed in one basket for the Silent Auction. The basket could be titled something like Relatives of Val or whatever. The title doesn’t really matter. There could even be a theme to the basket if you want. As relatives arrive, or before the auction, if it’s possible to get everyone there early, the items are placed in the basket and a list of what’s in the basket is attached to the outside for bidders to see what all is in the basket.

Does anyone want to volunteer to gather items? If not, Vicky is planning on being at the VFW a little early and will gather items as people arrive, and--unless someone wants to contribute the basket (which can be anything from a wicker basket to a laundry tub to a canning kettle or even a fancy cardboard box, etc.--she will bring something to use as the basket.
