This is all the trial and court records and 13 newspaper articles that covered the murder of my 3rd great grandpa Charles Smith who came from Greenup Ky to Muncie, Delaware Co. In. he was murdered by his youngest child Benjamin Harrison Smith who was sentenced to life in Michigan City State Prison in Indiana the murder took place in Muncie, Delaware Co Indiana in 1910. Almost a year after Benj. murdered his father he took his own life in his prison cell by hanging. The prison records can be obtained from the Indiana State Archives in Indianapolis Indiana all the newspaper articles are on micro film at the Muncie Public Library in Muncie Indiana. Among Benj. Smith's prison record there was a 5x7 mug shot of him it is here to. What a sad thing to happen it was a rather brutal sensless murder. Charles Smith was married to Mary (Timberlake) and their daughter Lavina (Smith) Howe was my 2nd great grandmother and she was married to George Oliver Howe.
